Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) President Nguyen Thien Nhan told US ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius at their August 4 meeting in Hanoi during which he also expressed his pleasure at the development of Vietnam-US relations since the normalization of bilateral ties.
Nhan spoke highly of the US’s rebalancing policy in the Asia-Pacific, which contributes to peace and stability in the region, as well as US’ support on the issue of climate change. He affirmed that Vietnam would actively participate in future UN peace-keeping activities.
Ambassador Osius also said that Vietnam and the US have cooperated in regional and global issues such as climate change, trade, investment and peace-keeping activities. He added that the two sides have worked to complete negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, after which the US hopes to be the top investor in Vietnam.
