Over 5 sessions, the Dialogue comprehensively discussed regional security issues while serving as an opportunity for participating countries to call for co-operation and build trust in the Asia-Pacific region. At the dialogue, Vietnam voiced its opinions on maintaining regional peace and security.
In the last session, discussing challenges in conflict resolution, many officials showed concern for unilateral action that could threaten maritime safety in the East Sea.
"I would like to highlight the need to respect international law. The disputes in the East Sea also affect the EU. France will propose a naval presence in the East Sea, so the EU can help guarantee compliance to international law and protect freedom of navigation in the region. I will try to realise this proposal quickly", Jean-Yves Le Drian - French Minister of Defence - spoke.
At the dialogue, the Vietnamese delegation also discussed both defense and security. Vietnam stressed peaceful resolutions to disputes in the East Sea and suggested ways to address tensions in the region.

At the Shangri La Dialogue, most delegates agreed that relevant countries should peacefully resolve disputes in the East Sea and respect international law, adhering to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and pushing for a detailed and practical code of conduct (COC) in the waters.
