Several days after the Government portal launched a Facebook page called Thong tin Chinh Phu (Government information) for citizens to get updates on the Government’s activities, some fake versions of the page have appeared.
These fake pages have the same look and avatar of the Government information page on Facebook. Most of these pages available on the search engine of Facebook copy information from the original page, some even use articles from news sites.
The Government’s Facebook page has attracted over 38,600 likes while the counterfeited pages have lured hundreds of likes.
On Tuesday, general director of the Government web portal Vi Quang Dao said two Facebook pages under the names of Thong tin Chinh Phu (Government information) and Dien dan Canh tranh Quoc Gia (National Competitiveness Forum) had been opened to publish press releases, instructions of the Prime Minister and his deputies, and the Government’s activities.
Dao said depending on the trial results, the portal will draw up a plan to partner with Facebook.
At a conference held earlier to review tasks in 2014 and introduce new missions of the Government Office, the Prime Minister asked the office to actively provide official information on social media like Facebook as this is one of the tasks assigned by the Government to the office.
