The visit was to provide information on the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of DPRK and to congratulate on the success of Vietnam’s 12th National Party Congress.
At a meeting on Monday, Vice Chairman of the Workers' Party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Choe Thae-bok informed Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng of the results of the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of DPRK, saying that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea wanted to further co-operate with Vietnam in the coming time. Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng reiterated Vietnam’s stance to maintain peace, stability and promote a non-nuclear Korean peninsula. The same spirit was also highlighted at previous meetings with head of the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission Trần Quốc Vượng. The DPRK delegation visited Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum and a number of other workplaces.
