The Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague announced on Wednesday that it would issue its ruling on July 12th.
The arbitration case started in January 22, 2013 when the Philippines served China with a claim under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Earlier, after reviewing the claims submitted by the Philippines, the tribunal rejected the argument by China that the dispute was beyond its jurisdiction. The court said the case reflected the argument between the two countries concerning the interpretation and enforcement of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and was within the PCA’s scope.
