Zika virus yet to be found in Vietnam

VTV.vn - Four Vietnamese Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology has yet to find any evidence of the Zika virus in 600 samples according to the Ministry of Health.

Recently, over 80 samples have been announced to be negative to Zika virus. The samples were taken from patients in An Giang, Cần Thơ, Đồng Nai, Đồng Tháp, Tây Ninh, Tiền Giang, Vĩnh Long and Hồ Chí Minh City that showed similar symptoms to those evidenced in Zika infections and in areas which have high amount of Aedes mosquitos. Despite no evidence of Zika found in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health said that the country still faces high possibility of the virus infection. The ministry has raised the awareness of health units and advised people to keep clean environment and continue extermination of mosquitoes and their larvae.
