There have been 9 recorded cases of Zika infection and 56 mosquitoes carrying the virus were also found. Pregnant women and children are advised not to travel to virus hotspots.
Pregnant women who are living or have travelled through these areas, or have displayed symptoms like fever, a rash or tiredness should go for medical check-ups.
Regarding the infant with small head syndrome, recently reported in Dak Lak Province, the Ministry of Health said the child had tested positive for Zika, but more tests needed to be done to pinpoint what happened.
