According to the Ministry of Public Security, nearly 2700 Vietnamese have been victims of human trafficking in the last three years. Criminals from many human trafficking rings involve many interprovincial and international groups. Despite many countries having national trafficking laws in place in line with the UN Trafficking in Persons Protocol, people continue to be trafficked. Therefore, on the 2019 World Day the UN Office on Drugs and Crime is focusing on highlighting the importance of Government action in the interest of victims. But the call to action is not only to Governments; everyone is encouraged to take action to prevent this heinous crime.
