According to him, the construction of the airport must begin no later than 2019 so that it can offer the first services in 2025. The state described the project, which is set to become Vietnam's largest airport, as significant to the Southern Key Economic Region.
To meet the deadlines, the southern province of Dong Nai should coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and other relevant agencies to promptly complete compensation and resettlement. The three-phase project covers a total area of 5,000 hectares. The airport is expected to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo by 2025 in the first phase, which includes the construction of a runway, a terminal, and auxiliary facilities.
