VTV.vn - The Hanoi Club of Vietnamese U.S Alumni celebrated its one-year anniversary in Hanoi on Friday.

To date, the club has attracted engagement from many Vietnamese alumni who used to study in the U.S. and contributed to strengthening Vietnam – US relations.

The Hanoi Club of Vietnamese U.S Alumni or VUSAC was established in July 2014. The club now has 130 members. Despite dissimilarities, they share the same purpose.

"I joined the club because I want to introduce Vietnamese culture and people to American friends who intend to visit Vietnam so that they can understand more about my home country", said Nguyen Thanh Van, member of VUSAC.

Since its establishment, VUSAC has organized culture and sports activities for Vietnamese alumni in the US. In addition, the club has held forums for its members and American friends to share their opinions about different topics.

Vietnam currently ranks the seventh among countries which send the greatest number of students to the US. From October 2104 to February 2015, the number of Vietnamese students studying in the US increased by 11%.

The contributions of VUSAC have proven the importance of people to people diplomacy, helping promote relations between the two countries
