Speaking at a conference on January 21, Dung requested the company closely follow the tasks and solutions outlined by the government so as to fulfil its set targets.
The Deputy PM stated that Vinacomin should be proactive and flexible in its production plans in accordance with the market, especially the coal market, in order to ensure an adequate supply for power generation.
The corporation was also asked to continue restructuring itself, to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of its subsidiaries, as well as step up mechanisation, automation and the application of IT within the corporation.
According to Vinacomin Chairman Le Minh Chuan, in 2020 the corporation brought in revenue of VND123.425 trillion (US$5.36 billion) and earned profits of VND3 trillion (US$130.3 million).
In 2021 Vinacomin aims to generate revenue of VND123.880 trillion and a profit of VND3 trillion, similar to the results achieved last year.
The corporation has also set the target of producing 38.5 million tonnes of coal while importing another 1.4 million tonnes.
