VTV.vn - Da Nang and its Dutch partners co-organised a seminar on promoting hi-tech agricultural cooperation between the two sides to improve agricultural productivity with the use of hi-technologies.

The event was held by the People's Committee of Da Nang City in coordination with the Embassy of Vietnam in the Netherlands and the Netherlands - Vietnam Association of Farming Enterprises Cooperation, offering a chance for exchanges between businesses and experts of both sides.

The relationship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands in recent years has developed strongly. In which, agriculture is one of the priority fields, having brought about specific results on the development of hi-tech agriculture associated with the production of key agricultural products.

The Netherlands is also supporting and cooperating with Vietnam in transforming agriculture in the Mekong Delta towards climate change adaptation and optimally exploiting the potentials and strengths of each region and each locality associated with the market's needs.

The Netherlands and Da Nang have similarities such as limited land availability and being affected by climate change. Therefore, it is required to apply technologies to improve the efficiency of land use, thus creating high quality and safe products for urban use and tourism.

Da Nang has approved the planning of hi-tech agricultural areas in the communes of Hoa Khuong, Hoa Phu, and Hoa Phong (Hoa Vang District) to call for investment, with several enterprises have carried out their projects there, focusing on hi-tech farming of medicinal plants and vegetables.

According to the adjusted master plan of Da Nang City by 2030, with a vision to 2045, the orientation of the local hi-tech agricultural area is 2,986 ha, concentrated in Hoa Vang District, with a focus on farming of vegetables, flowers, mushrooms and cultivars.

In recent years, Da Nang has been applying hi-technologies to its agricultural production, including transferring advanced farming and husbandry technical processes; pest and disease treatment techniques; and economical irrigation and environmental treatment in animal husbandry, which have contributed to improving production levels and changing the production practices of local farmers.

At the workshop, Dutch experts and businesses offered production technologies adapting to climate change and the conditions in Da Nang, helping the Vietnamese city to choose optimal and appropriate methods, such as greenhouse technology; smartphone apps for management and operation in the greenhouse; supporting optimal gardening tools; introducing high quality seeds; and transferring modern cultivation techniques to Da Nang.

Both sides also expressed their willingness to share expertise among farmers and introduce a commercial connection channel.

On the occasion, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh also called on Dutch enterprises to invest in hi-tech agriculture in Da Nang in the form of FDI or public-private partnership, as well as through cooperation between Dutch enterprises and their Da Nang’s partners in the cultivation of vegetables, flowers and mushrooms using advanced technologies.
