The special publications for lunar new year from Nhan dan newspaper, Vietnam Television, and Voice of Vietnam are displayed at the event. These are brought from Vietnam and given to all Vietnamese participating in the event. Over the past 4 years, the news stand has become increasingly popular.

The event is also a good opportunity to take stock of the good relations between the two countries and their future development.
"This year witnessed the success of the 10th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This has enhanced our excitement, as we believe in the strong development of our country in the new year." - Hoang Dieu, Overseas Vietnamese in Vientiane, Laos .
Speaking at the meeting, the Vietnamese ambassador to Laos highlighted significant achievements of Vietnam - Laos relations over the past year, which was partly thanks to the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Laos. He also shared his hope that Vietnamese community in Laos maintained its solidarity and support, contributing to the development of the two countries.
"I hope that Vietnamese in Laos make stronger efforts this year to contribute to strengthening the traditional Vietnam - Laos friendship and boost comprehensive co-operation between the two countries." - Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos.
