VTV.vn - The Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia on March 23 recommended Vietnamese citizens strictly follow regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control in their host country.

The embassy said in its statement that as of March 22, Indonesia had recorded 514 infection cases, including 48 fatalities and 29 recovered patients.

Amid the complicated developments of the pandemic, the Vietnamese Government decided to temporarily suspend the entry of all foreigners and suspend the validity of visa exemption certificates granted to all overseas Vietnamese and their relatives from 0:00 on March 22.

Other ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia have imposed travel restrictions, thus hampering the travel of Vietnamese citizens there.

Therefore, the embassy advised Vietnamese citizens in Indonesia to avoid non-essential travel back home during this time.

If a Vietnamese citizen desires to return home because of urgent reasons, he/she must fill in an online application form available on the embassy’s website. The embassy will review the request and coordinate with authorities from both sides to support him/her.

To seek help, Vietnamese citizens are advised to contact the embassy hotline: +62. 81116025, e-mail Jakarta@mofa.gov.vn or the citizen protection call centre +84.981848484.
