VTV.vn - The Vietnamese comic 'Địa ngục môn' or "Hell’s Gate” has snagged the silver prize at the 10th International MANGA Award, organized by the Japanese embassy on February 6th.

"Địa ngục môn" was the 2nd Vietnamese comic book awarded at the competition.

This year's competition attracted 296 works from artists from 55 countries and territories. Fourteen comic books secured awards with 1 gold, 3 silver and 10 bronze awards. The gold award was given to Joel Parnotte from France. Vietnamese comic book author Phan Cao Ha My won a silver award together with 2 other comic books by artists from China and Italy.

Phan Cao Ha My said that she was surprised at first, and then very proud. “The comic culture in Vietnam is still very new. Vietnam winning awards in international competitions like this is a great encouragement for the Vietnamese comic industry. I love issues that deal with karma, life and death, so I focus on depicting these topics in my comics,” she pointed out.

The International MANGA Awards have been held annually since 2007 with the aim of introducing Japanese culture and promoting comics throughout the world.
