In Hanoi, visitors flocked to the city center around Hoan Kiem Lake area dressed in ao dai, the Vietnamese national costume, as well as outfits decorated with the country's emblem. Alongside music performances on the walking street, the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism also had 200 artists from 13 ethnic groups perform.
In Kim Lien district of the central province of Nghe An, the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, people came to pay their respects to the late leader at his memorial.
In Ho Chi Minh city, a mass wedding was held for 100 couples mostly workers from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Last but not least, the central province of Quang Binh saw the opening of a boat race on the Nhat Le River, which is celebrated annually on National Day.
