A delegation of Vietnamese border guards led by Major General Hoàng Xuân Chiến is on a visit to Laos from Nov 9th to 11th under the invitation of Colonel Sỷ-phăn Phụt-thạ-vông, Director of Border Guard Department, General Staff of Lao People’s Army.
As part of the visit, the two sides held the 12th annual talks in Vientiane on Tuesday. At the event, both sides praised the implementation of contents agreed during their 11th annual talks as well as cooperation between the two countries. They agreed to boost collaboration in all fields including fighting against crimes such as smuggling and trade fraud in border areas.
Furthermore, implementation of an agreement on border management regulations will also be launched. Vietnam and Laos will continue raising awareness of the two peoples about border issues and organize bilateral patrols. At the end of the talk, the two delegation’s leaders signed the Memorandum of Understanding of contents to be implemented in the near future.
