VTV.vn - The Vietnam Green Building Week 2020, jointly held by the Ministry of Construction and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, closed on December 11.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung shared that the event was the first of its kind to be held in Vietnam, and saw the attendance of more than 1,000 domestic and foreign delegates.

Activities during the week conveyed a strong message about the need to develop green buildings while affirming the government’s support for the business community and people in the development of energy-efficient and green structures.

The event also helped enterprises become fully aware of their role and responsibility in creating environmentally friendly buildings.

A project on enhancing energy use in commercial buildings and tower blocks sponsored by the UNDP, known as EECB, has contributed to a 25-67% reduction in energy use, equivalent to over 11,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

The private sector is currently the main driving force in the development of green buildings in Vietnam through integrating green and energy-efficient elements in the design, construction and management of buildings.

At the closing ceremony, the organisers awarded certificates to nine buildings employing energy-saving solutions under the EECB project.
