According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers or VASEP, Vietnam only earned around 492 million USD from shrimp exports to China last year, down 28% from the previous year. The total value of shrimp exports to China only accounted for 14% of the sector's total value.
However, the Chinese market has recently witnessed several changes thanks to its activities against smuggling.
As a result, insiders have forecast that it would have a big demand for Vietnamese shrimp this year. Vietnam currently ranks sixth on the list of main shrimp exporters to China .
