The vehicle is equipped with technology one level down from full automation.
It can travel by itself within limited distance. The car locates itself using a GPS. When tested on Japan Post compound, the car moved at 20km/hour, and can avoid obstacles. While the car operates automatically, it will still be supervised via a camera attached to the body of the car.
Japan Post said they will run more tests in combination with self-driving vehicles, robots and drones.
