The 2015 Vietnam Agriculture Forum kicked off this morning in Hanoi. The event is co-organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the Agricultural Alliance Organization. This is the biggest event in a series of agricultural forums, discussing modern-day agriculture policies with the participation of scientists, managers, and farmers.
With the theme "The Vietnamese agriculture sector under global integration challenges", this year's forum emphasized the fierce competition Vietnamese agricultural products may face as a result of tax cuts following FTA agreements the country has signed.
In addition, Vietnam’s agricultural production still remains low and heavily dependent on weather conditions. These restrictions were also brought up in discussions for a 5-year solution plan. As such, forecasting and appropriate policies are considered important.
