Typhoon Trami is packing maximum gusts of 216km per hour near its centre, and expected to hold that intensity through the weekend. It has already brought strong winds to the southern islands of Okinawa. Japan Meteorological Agency says the storm was 40 kilometers south-southeast of Kume Island in Okinawa Prefecture at 12 PM on Saturday. Trami is moving north at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour. It is predicted to head northeast as it gains speed. It will come very close to western parts of Japan's main islands on Sunday and to eastern and northern Japan later. Officials have called on people across Japan to stay alert through Monday for heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas.
