VTV.vn - To prepare for typhoon Mangkhut, Quảng Ninh province's military command has mobilized 400 officers and soldiers and over 2,000 militia to be on duty to handle any problem that may arise.

The unit has also urged offshore fishing vessels to find safe places to take shelter. The provincial military command has also set up two forces to coordinate with the Party committees and the local authorities for maintaining regular contact with agencies, departments, and branches in order to trace the path and progress of the storm.

They'll be ready to mobilize the necessary forces to handle the situation and minimize the consequences caused by the storm.

In September 15th, Super Typhoon Mangkhut has slammed into the northeastern tip of the Philippines, bringing torrential rains and battering winds with at least 270km/h wind gusts, that are expected to affect millions of people. Mangkhut, also known as Ompong in the Philippines, made landfall at around 2:30am local time today.

The storm is estimated to be 900km in diametre. The Philippines has raised the highest alert level in the northern provinces and the Babuyan group of islands. Those areas have a combined population of at least 3.7 million. But other neighbouring provinces are also expected to be affected, bringing that number to more than five million. Philippines authorities readied bulldozers for landslides and placed rescuers and soldiers on full alert in the country's north.
