Tropical storm Higos brings flash floods to Northern Thailand

VTV.vn - Flash floods and landslides hit northern Thailand on August 21 as tropical storm Higos brought heavy rain to the region.

Typhoon Higos caused heavy rains in Loei Province and caused rising water in a other provinces, including Nakhon Phanom Province where the Mekong River flows through. The Meteorological Department announced increased rainfall between 20-23 August, with seventy percent precipitation in the Northern regions.

Authorities advised residents and road-users to take alternative routes to ensure safety. Higos slammed into Hong Kong and Macau on Thursday before weakening into a tropical storm when it reached mainland China.
