According to Japan's chief trade negotiator Kazuyoshi Umemoto, delegates at the meeting have agreed to resume discussions in Japan in September, with the hope of reaching a final agreement on the TPP before the APEC Economic Leaders' Week takes place in Vietnam in November.
The TPP was signed in February 2016 by Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam.
However, it would need adjustments to come into effect due to the withdrawal of the United States, which would have accounted for 60% of the trade agreement's GDP.
