This is the first time Thai artisan Torsak has come to Vietnam. He was so excited to be introduced to Vietnamese people and talk about batik fabric paintings. Batik painting originated from Indonesian paintings, but these feature typical patterns from Thailand.
"To make batik painting we have to use hot wax for the mould, then fill it and finally steam the wax for melting. The outstanding feature of these batik paintings is the patterns featuring my hometown – in the northeastern part of Thailand", Torsak Sutthisa - an artisan from Roied Province, Thailand - said.
Regarding dried flower bags, Thasporn guided Vietnamese youngsters to make traditional khrường-hỏm. In spite of the language barrier, this handicraft product connected them.
Through Hùn cạ-boọk puppet shows or sculptures on fruits and vegetables, Thai artisans have allowed Vietnamese art lovers to discover many different areas of Thailand.
"After this exhibition, we also have other traditional Thai art performances. In early August, we will also coordinate with Vietnam to organize a series of Vietnam culture days in Bangkok and Nakhon Phanom", Thaweeraht Kasesoontorn - Assitant of Thai Minister of Culture - spoke.
This exhibition will contribute to the success of the “Thai Culture Days" programme in Vietnam, which will take place until August 1st in Hanoi and Quang Ninh.
