Danang Tourism Association chairman Huynh Tan Vinh stated that current plans for developing Son Tra do not ensure the peninsula's biodiversity and that the status quo of this area should be maintained.
However, Danang authorities said that these proposals are impossible as the city has high demand for development. Related to the number of hotel rooms in the peninsula, many scientists stressed the need for more research before a conclusion is made. While some scholars said that the figure of 1600 hotel rooms is much higher than needed, the Institute for Tourism Development Research agreed with this plan. After the seminar in Hanoi, another event will be held in Danang to collect more feedback from experts. In the next 3 months, authorities will collect more ideas and then send their reports to the government.
