Support provided by the government and local authorities in response is intended to help fishing communities continue offshore trawling fishing and restore their livelihoods.
25 fishmongers with guaranteed safe fish and seafood produce have been established in Hà Tĩnh and other provinces, Banks have been canvassed to reschedule low-interest loans, and safety parameters of sea water within permissible limits from the monitoring phase. These actions have encouraged fishermen to resume offshore trawling activities.
Quang Binh Province recently issued 500 tonnes of rice from stockpiles to distribute to needy fishing families. Meanwhile, the province also received support from many agencies valued at more than 314 thousand USD and 25 tonnes of rice. All of them were allocated directly to fishermen. The local authorities also supported more than 1.2 million USD for fishermen whose ships with under 20 HORSEPOWER in capacity.
Quang Tri’s authorities followed likewise and 300 tonnes of rice was issued for 16 coastal communes. Quang Tri has also received 400 thousand USD and many other donations.
Aside from local efforts, national support has encouraged these communities to resume fishing offshore.
