President Truong Tan Sang highly appreciated the support from the Party of the Revolution, the Tanzanian government and people of Vietnam during the country’s development process. The president expressed his hope to strengthen co-operation between the two sides in economics, trade, and investment.
For his part, Tanzanian Party of Revolution Chair Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete said that Tanzania aims to utilise the experiences learned from Vietnam in terms of investment and trade. Vietnamese telecommunication firm Viettel has set a good example of successful investment in Tanzania. Chairman Kikwete also stressed that strengthened ties between the two parties would enhance collaboration between the two countries.
At the meeting with Vice President and President of the semi-autonomous region Zanzibar, Ali Mohamed Shein, State President Truong Tan Sang emphasised the essential role of Zanzibar region in the development of Tanzania. Vietnam is willing to strengthen co-operation with Zanzibar in trade, investment, agriculture and communications. The state president also encouraged both sides to do more to attract investment into aquaculture projects in Zanzibar, to promote co-operation at the provincial level between Zanzibar and the central coastal provinces of Vietnam.
Later, State President Truong Tan Sang and his delegation visited the Benjamin exclusive economic zone. This is an important industrial hub in eastern Tanzania. Viettel has invested in some manufacturers in the area. The state president praised Tanzania’s achievements in attracting foreign investment.
