At the talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdi-muhame-dow, President Sang affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Turkmenistan. The two leaders agreed to further promote bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economics and trade, focusing on garments and textiles, leather and footwear, and agricultural and seafood products.
President Sang also received the President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi in New York. As both countries celebrate their 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year, President Sang suggested that the two countries should promote cooperation in trade, telecommunications, agriculture, health care, and education. They both expressed appreciation for on-going projects jointly-established by the two countries.
Receiving Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, President Truong Tan Sang urged him to speed up Sweden’s ratification of the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement (EVFTA) and the early recognition of Vietnam’s market economy status.
Regarding regional issues, the two sides agreed that the East Sea dispute should be settled peacefully in accordance with international law, thereby keeping peace, security, maritime safety, and freedom in the East Sea.
