The United States, Japan, China and South Korea were Vietnam’s top importers of seafood. Seafood export value increased strongly in the US, China, ASEAN and particularly in Brazil, which registered a 500-fold increase. According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers despite the positive development in the first months of the year, Vietnam’s seafood export sector faces many challenges in major markets, including competition in terms of prices and existing trade barriers.
