Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai is making his first official visit to Vietnam since taking his post last August.
On December 22nd, Mr Pichai met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi to discuss the company’s long-term game plan for the Vietnamese market. At the meeting, Mr Pichai said the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the Trans-Pacific Partnership would open up opportunities for Google to expand its operations in the Southeast Asian country. The US giant will carry out a number of projects to support Vietnam in training 1,400 IT engineers, promoting Vietnam’s tourism image, and aiding the country’s small-and medium-sized enterprises in gaining access to the global market through e-commerce, according to the government's website.
