Liquidity seems low, given the sharp increase in the overnight interbank interest rates. Due to the rising demand for short-term capital towards the year's end, overnight interbank interest rates have increased from 3.2% per annum two weeks ago to 4.6% per annum. Several commercial banks have started increasing their interest rates on short-term deposits by 0.2 to 0.5% per annum. Interest rates on VND deposits now stand at 0.8 to 1% per annum for no-term deposits; 4.5-5.4% per annum for deposits of less than 6 month terms and 5.4-6.5% per annum for 6-12 month terms.
