PM holds high-level talks on G7 Summit sidelines

VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had talks with other leaders taking part in the G7 Summit and the expanded G7 Summit on Thursday afternoon.

During his talk with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that Vietnam is actively taking part in the Human Rights and the Socio-economic Councils as well as building plans to implement Paris agreement COP 21. He thanked the UN in actively supporting Vietnam in dealing the severe drought and salinisation.

Also on the same day, Vietnam Prime Minister met Sri LankaN President - Mai-thri-pa-la Xi-ri-xê-na. The prime minister expressed his hope Sri Lanka would support Vietnamese candidates to apply for the General Director of UNESCO in the 2017-2021 period.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc also spoke with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund The Vietnamese leader wanted support from IMF in policy consultation in macro-economic stabilisation and economic reform in the coming time. The two sides also agreed to foster green and sustainable economics in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese leader also had a meeting with the OECD Secretary General - Angel Gurría, Aichi Prefecture of Japan - Hideaki Omura, Chairman and CEO, and Japan External Trade Organization  - Hiroyuki Ishige.
