VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a message to the concerned agencies asking them to continue taking urgent measures to search for and rescue the victims of recent landslides in the central province of Quang Nam.

He said search and rescue teams must use any means to reach areas hit by landslides and rescue the people who are still alive.

In his message, PM Phuc asked the Ministry of Transport, the Quang Nam authorities and other forces to quickly repair damaged roads in order to facilitate the movement of equipment to search areas.

The head of government also urged for absolute safety to be ensured for the rescue forces, noting that the risk of landslides remains high due to complicated terrain and weather.

In the wake of Typhoon Molave, there have been three landslides in the districts of Nam Tra My and Phuoc Son in the past two days, burying more than 70 people, of which 33 have been rescued.

According to the national weather agency, heavy rains will continue to lash Vietnam’s central provinces, raising the risk of flash floods and landslide across the region.

Water levels are also rising on the rivers throughout the region, prompting warnings of flooding in low-lying areas and towns and cities from Nghe An Province to Quang Ngai Province.
