VTV.vn - A photo exhibition entitled ‘For an elegant and civilised Hanoi’ officially opened in the capital city on July 12, as part of activities to mark the 20th anniversary of its recognition as ‘City For Peace’ by UNESCO (July 16, 1999 – 2019).

On display were 200 photos, which were divided into three themes: “Hanoi and a thousand years of civilisation”, “President Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi’s culture”, and “Hanoi studies and following President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, morality and lifestyle in cultural life”.

The photos highlight the beauty of Hanoians in the old days, from the dressing style to elegant behaviour, and their civilised lifestyle in the period of integration and renewal.

In addition, President Ho Chi Minh’s interest in the cause of developing the capital city’s culture is highlighted at the exhibition.

Notably, the exhibits also highlight the great attention of the Party, State and Hanoi authorities in the preservation and promotion of the elegant and civilised lifestyle of the capital residents.

The exhibition aims to introduce the image of a gentle, sophisticated, generous and kind capital city, while raising public awareness of preserving and promoting its traditional beauty.

The exhibition will run until August 12.

On the occasion, a carnival will be held in the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake from 9am to 11am on July 14, featuring the participation of nearly 100 international and Vietnamese professional artists.
