VTV.vn - The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos recently organised a conference to collect comments from the Vietnamese community in Laos.

Ngo Xuan Diem has lived in Laos for 40 years. However, right after draft documents to be presented at the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam were posted online, he started creating an 8-page document to contribute. One  of his main concerns is the nation's sovereignty over its seas and islands.

"Our main concern is China's wrongful actions in the East Sea, constructing airports, factories, and lighthouses. I proposed to our Party and State that we need to stay determined and strong with China." - Ngo Xuan Diem, Overseas Vietnamese, Vientiane Capital, Laos.

At the event, participants appreciated that the Party was collecting comments and opinions from Vietnamese living at home and abroad. Comments on various fields were presented, including national sovereignty, education, and socio-economic development from 2016 - 2020.

"We especially want our nation to focus on agriculture and tourism development. These are our strong fields and we need to exploit their potential to boost the nation's development." - Hoang Xuan Hai, Envoy, Vietnamese Embassy in Laos.

"The Vietnamese community in Vientiane, as well as the rest of Laos, hope that the Party and State will try to pay more attention to overseas Vietnamese." - Kham Hung, General Secretary, General Vietnamese Association in Laos.

The event also attracted the participation of Vietnamese enterprises and agencies in Laos. The Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos said that this will be a great contribution to the nation's development. The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos will continue to receive comments to submit to officials in Vietnam.
