According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the tally as of this morning remained unchanged at 1,063. Of the total, 691 were locally transmitted cases, including 551 recorded since July 25.
The number of fully recovered patients stands at 931, with the latest five recoveries announced by the Da Nang Lung Hospital and the Regional General Hospital of Quang Nam Province yesterday.
Among those still under treatment, 16 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 12 others twice and 18 thrice. Three patients are in critical conditions. So far, 35 have died from complications related to the disease, with most of them having been elderly with co-morbidities.
There are 32,417 people that had close contact with confirmed cases or came from pandemic-hit regions who are currently under quarantine.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has been put under control in Vietnam, local authorities have gradually loosened their epidemic prevention and control measures, while boosting socio-economic activities. At a meeting on September 15, Hanoi authorities decided to resume the operation of local bars, karaoke parlours and discos from 0:00 on September 16, as the capital city has recorded no new infections for 27 days. The walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake and the vicinity will be active again from September 18. Hanoi has also prepared eight hotels, with nearly 1,500 quarantined rooms, to serve foreigners and Vietnamese coming to Hanoi following the reopening of some international flight routes starting from September 15.

Thua Thien Hue Province’s authorities have agreed to lift the mandatory isolation order on residents coming from Da Nang starting from today. Accordingly, those coming to the province from the neighbouring city that emerged as the new epicentre of the new COVID-19 wave in Vietnam now only need to make a medical declaration at https://tuongtac.thuathienhue.gov.vn/khaibao and do not need a negative PCR test paper from the last 72 hours to be allowed to enter Thua Thien Hue.
Dien Bien Province has admitted 178 citizens to local isolation camps after they returned Vietnam via the Tay Trang International Border Gate on September 14. Other 146 Vietnamese citizens repatriated from Singapore on the same day have completed their procedures to practice their 14-day quarantine as prescribed at a local camp in Soc Trang Province. All are in stable health.

On September 15, Hanoi Medical University Hospital started to deploy a home testing service for residents in Hanoi’s inner districts, with the desire to facilitate patients in receiving quick and effective examination, while contributing to easing hospital overload.
On the same day, the Vietnam Youth Federation and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association transferred medical equipment and materials to support COVID-19 prevention and control in the “new normal” state in five Hanoi hospitals, while the Border Guard of Lang Son Province and the Department of Health of Binh Dinh Province were granted with COVID-19 test kits.
On September 15, the People's Council of Quang Ngai Province passed a resolution providing a number of specific support policies for COVID-19 prevention and control in the province. Accordingly, a food allowance of VND40,000 a day per person will be provided to people who are temporarily zoned and isolated in residential areas to serve COVID-19 prevention and control, while those participating in local quarantine posts will be supported with VND150,000 each per day.
