The two prime ministers agreed to set a new target for trade between the two nations by 2020. This is the first visit by a Turkish prime minister to Vietnam. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that Turkey wants to expand co-operation in all aspects with Vietnam. Both sides agreed to support businesses of both nations in investment and trade. The Turkish Prime Minister also affirmed Turkey's stance on the East Sea and hopes that the parties involved will resolve their disputes through dialogue. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc voiced his concerns over the rise of terrorism and said Turkey and Vietnam should work toward peaceful solutions based on international law, especially UNCLOS 1982. Both sides are confident that the two countries can achieve a trade turnover target of 4 billion USD by 2020.
After talks, Prime Minister Phuc and Prime Minister Yildirim witnessed the signing ceremony of several agreements between the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Turkish Ministry of Economy.
