Vietnamese pangasius exporters and producers will have to ensure that their farming, processing, packaging and transportation follow US standards. According to experts, it used to take 5 to 7 years to assess cattle and poultry exports to the US. Therefore, six months is too short for evaluating the quality of pangasius production. Also, Vietnam needs time to adjust its legal system and production facilities. All of these barriers may prevent the US from being the largest importer of Vietnamese pangasius in 2017.
