Two months have passed since the Carina Plaza fire killed 13 people and injured more than 50 others. During the last month, the Ministry of Public Security has been coordinating with leaders of different localities to supervise and inspect buildings nationwide.
The inspections revealed that many apartment buildings have been violating fire code. Most of the violations were discovered in Hanoi and in Ho Chi Minh City and a list of violators has been made. Firefighters in Ho Chi Minh City conducted more than 500 inspections in apartment buildings and tall buildings.
The results show that violations in the fire protection system accounted for more than 37% of the violations and violations related to fire escapes accounted for more than 24%.
