Mekong Delta to witness higher floods

by VTV416 July 2018 Last updated at 16:11 PM

VTV.vn - Many forecasts have indicated that this year's flood season in the Mekong Delta is likely to come sooner than usual.

Notably, the water levels in the upper parts of the Tiền River, Hậu River, and rice fields are forecasted to be higher than those of last year. The highest flood levels may range from previous years' average or above.

In order to prevent floods from damaging rice crops, cities and provinces in the Mekong Delta have advised farmers to grow autumn - winter rice crops in areas protected by dykes and avoid large scale farming. Localities are promptly evacuating households from areas that are prone to landslides and establishing emergency response teams to prepare for unexpected landslides.
