VTV.vn - Vietnam is on high alert as the fourth tropical storm this year, Typhoon Mejigue, is forecast to make landfall in the next days.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai held an online forum to urge local authorities in 17 coastal provinces in the north and central regions to make preparations. According to the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, 46,000 boats and aquaculture facilities have received warnings about the typhoon’s movements. Over 230,000 people have also been advised to move to safe areas. Three scenarios regarding the typhoon’s movement are also being discussed among local authorities in order to minimise damage once it makes landfall. Quang Ninh has suffered from a severe monsoon season so the province has been asked to prioritise dyke and irrigation system safety.
