Boosting cooperation in high-tech industries is one of the objectives of the Vietnam - Russia partnership. In 2012, the Russian State Duma launched the project “Vietnam - Russia: new economies” to encourage bilateral high-tech cooperation. As part of this project, a delegation of Russian high-tech companies visited Vietnam on September 29th to look for business and technology exchange opportunities.
The delegation includes 5 Russian high-tech enterprises in the fields of healthcare, water purification, and infrastructure. Their aim is to introduce their best technology and products in Vietnam. Some enterprises are exploring the Vietnamese market, and some have already made detailed plans.
"This is our company’s second visit to Vietnam. Last time, we came to find out if there was a market in Vietnam for our products. The answer is ‘yes’. However, our company specializes in underground and complex construction, which requires a lot of capital. We want to establish a joint-venture with a prestigious Vietnamese company. First, we’d like to open an office in Vietnam" - Director, Minskmetroproject JSC said.
During the visit, the delegation attended meetings with Vietnamese enterprises, provincial and city leaders, as well as representatives from the Vietnamese National Assembly, Ministry of Health, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
After the meeting with Thái Nguyên Province authorities, the Russian delegation was invited to return to Vietnam in December to continue discussions on cooperation. It is hoped that the Vietnam - Eurasia Economic Union FTA, soon to take effect, will further boost Vietnam- Russia high-tech cooperation.
