VTV.vn - Deputy Prime Minister of Laos and Minister of Defence, General Chansamone Chanyalath handed over US$200,000 to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung in support of Vietnam’s COVID-19 Vaccine Fund at a function held in Vientiane.

According to General Chansamone Chanyalath, since the fourth wave of COVID-19 infections broke out and spread to many provinces and cities in Vietnam, the Lao Ministry of National Defence has called on its officers and soldiers to support the Vietnamese people, thus promoting the spirit of solidarity and mutual support between the two countries.

Receiving the donation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Lao Nguyen Ba Hung expressed his thanks for the valuable support of the Lao Defence Ministry towards the Vietnamese Party, State and people.

He noted that despite facing many difficulties, Lao agencies and businesses have made significant donations to the Vietnamese Government and people’s fight against COVID-19.

To date, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos has received more than US$1.2 million in cash and medical equipment for its COVID-19 battle, he reported, adding that the assistance is a vivid illustration of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
