The VLFA’s donations were handed over to the Lao people via the Lao Embassy in Vietnam.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, VLFA Chairman Tran Van Tuy said that amidst the complicated evolution of the coronavirus disease in Laos, to show Vietnam’s solidarity and mutual affection with the Lao people, the VLFA Central Committee launched a campaign to mobilise donations nationwide from May 6 to 14 to support Laos’ pandemic fight.
The drive received an enthusiastic response from VLFA members at all levels, he said, highlighting that it demonstrates the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, as well as the close bond between the two peoples.
Expressing the Vietnamese people’s deep sympathy for the difficulties and challenges that Laos is facing, Tuy asserted that Vietnam always stands by Laos, especially in its fight against COVID-19.
He voiced his belief that with the wise and drastic direction of the Party and State, together with the determination and consensus of authorities and the entire people in combating the disease, Laos and its people will promptly bring the pandemic under control, promote socio-economic recovery, and continue to grow sustainably.
Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang expressed his sincere thanks for the VLFA’s assistance, hailing this as a strong reflection of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
He affirmed that Laos would effectively use the cash offered by the VLFA in its anti-COVID-19 efforts in order to promptly drive back the pandemic.
