VTV.vn - In addition to joint support for foreign investors, Japanese enterprises in Can Tho are also favoured in allocating clean land, as well as connecting infrastructure, pledged a senior official from the Mekong Delta city.

Truong Quang Hoai Nam, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, told representatives from the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) during a meeting in Can Tho on October 29, discussing investment opportunities in the city.

Nam said that Can Tho is now calling for investment in priority projects in the fields of industrial park construction, smart urban, building and operating logistics facilities, education, medical care and human resource training.

Japan has been identified as a strategic partner of Can Tho, therefore, in addition to the general support for foreign investors, Japanese businesses are also subjected to Can Tho’s incentives in allocating clean land resources, for example, 156 ha of land in the north of O Mon district, as well as connecting infrastructure, Nam pledged.

Besides continuously improving the quality of service in administrative procedures, the city also has complete infrastructure to meet the needs of accommodation, entertainment, medical services and transportation to facilitate Japanese businesses and experts during their working time in Can Tho, the vice chairman added.

In 2020, Can Tho will have a direct flight route to Japan, while the Vinmec International Hospital is about to go into operation, in addition to an international golf course and the Can Tho-Ho Chi Minh City high-speed railway has been approved, helping to reduce travel time from 3.5 hours to 45 minutes. In addition, the city also owns a system of thermal power plants running on gas, a waste treatment plant with the state-of-art electrical burning technology in Vietnam and a large customs clearance areas for provinces in the Mekong Delta.

Hirai Shinji, Chief Representative of JETRO in Ho Chi Minh City, said that in 2018, nearly 3,100 Japanese businesses came to JETRO office in Ho Chi Minh City to learn about the investment environment in Vietnam’s Southern provinces and cities, in which Can Tho won their most attention.

Japanese enterprises have been surveying infrastructure serving production and business and support from Can Tho for enterprises with investment needs, as well as learning about local businesses and customers in the city that Japanese businesses can partner with.

Hirai Shinji stated that JETRO in Ho Chi Minh City will do its best to provide information to Japanese enterprises in the fastest and most truthful manner to help connect and bring more Japanese businesses to Can Tho to explore investment opportunities there.
