VTV.vn - The Japanese government will provide Vietnam’s southern province of Long An with two ambulances and an X-ray machine, as part of the Grant Assistance for Grass roots and Human Security Projects (GGP) programme.

The assistance contract was signed between the Long An People’s Committee and the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on November 18.

The two ambulances will be given to the Tan Thanh District Healthcare Centre to enhance its emergency response capacity and transport patients safely, while the X-ray machine will be provided to the Tan Thanh 2 Healthcare Centre.

According to Japanese Consul General Watanabe Nobuhiro, the GGP programme has been implemented since 1995, assisting 26 provinces in southern Vietnam in 214 projects covering education, healthcare, agriculture and rural infrastructure.

In Long An provinces, there have been 12 projects on building schools, providing medical equipment, constructing rural roads and supplying clean water.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Long An Chairman Nguyen Van Ut stated that the assistance demonstrates the good friendship between the two countries and pledged to use the assistance resources effectively.
