Iran, Vietnam to boost co-operation

VTV.vn - After the meeting with Iranian President, State President Truong Tan Sang attended a joint press conference with the Iranian leader. At the press conference, the two leaders expressed their belief that ties between the two countries.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that both Iran and Vietnam had experienced difficult years when struggling for their independence and years of economic embargo. The two countries now share similarities in regional and global context. State President Truong Tan Sang and President Hassan Rouhani said that the two countries had agreed to foster economic and trade cooperation in the coming time.

"The first thing to do is to construct common regulations and payment system in banking sector. Therefore, the two State Banks will sign a Memorandum of Understanding. In our meeting, the two countries discussed about bilateral cooperation in various fields such as trade, investment in energy, agriculture and tourism, science and technology", said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

"During our meetings, we agreed to expand economic co-operation in order to achieve target trade turnover of 2 billion USD within the next 5 years. We’ll also create more favourable conditions for firms that operate in areas of mutual strength, such as energy, telecommunication, technology, agriculture, fisheries and tourism" said State President Truong Tan Sang.

The two leaders also expressed concern about countries which are victims of terrorism and agreed that there should be united anti-terrorism efforts. In addition, they agreed that all disputes need to be solved in peaceful ways and based on international law.
