Average local incomes are now 80 per cent of their inner-city neighbours. This is partly thanks to the effectiveness of local farming co-operatives.
After 5 years of implementing the new rural development plan, Ho Chi Minh City’s co-operatives have become an important channel to attract investment into agriculture. Partly thanks to this, the average income of farmers on the outskirts of the city has greatly improved, and is set to reach nearly 18 thousand US dollars per hectare for farm land within the next five years.
